SUMMER INTERN OPPORTUNITIES:

The Memorial Foundation of the Germanna Colonies in Virginia is seeking college-age students for internships.   Interns will have a variety of experiences related to the heritage of the 1714 and 1717 Germanna immigrants, including genealogical research, historic preservation, the Germanna Colonies Museum, the Salubria mansion (ca 1742), and the annual  historical conference and reunion .

Mystery of the Minister from Muckamore

As members of the Salubria Committee, Kathy Ellis and Katharine Brown have been doing some research on the background of the Reverend John Thompson, who was the established church minister of St. Mark's Parish, Culpeper (which included Little Fork Church where Germanna ancestors in the Little Fork community worshipped). Rev. Thompson was, as you know, the man who built  Salubria.
 

Orange County Historical Society Free Lectures - New Schedule

The Orange County Historical Society announces that the first in its series of illustrated lectures on the history of the county will be postponed from Saturday, February 6, to Saturday, February 13. The hope is that we will break out of the weekend storm cycle we've been in for most of the winter and that the lecture schedule will only have to be moved up by one week.

Germanna Record No. 19: The Yager Family - Pre-Order Now and Include a Memorial

The Germanna Foundation is just about to publish our long-awaited Yager Genealogy, called Germanna Record No. 19: The Yager Family.  This is going to be a very large volume, more than 700 pages, and Cathi Clore Frost has been working on it for about three years with help from a lot of Yagers, so we are pretty excited.
