Germanna Foundation Trustee Emeritus John Pearce Honored by the University of Mary Washington

John N. Pearce was awarded emeritus status at the University of Mary Washington’s undergraduate commencement ceremony on Saturday, May 7. He was named Director of the James Monroe Museum and Memorial Library, Director of the James Monroe Presidential Center, and University Liaison for the Enchanted Castle Site Emeritus.

Germanna Foundation Initiates Efforts to Protect Siegen Forest

On December 20, 2010, the Germanna Foundation initiated formal discussions at the Germanna Visitor Center with the Virginia Department of Forestry to protect the future of Siegen Forest through conservation easements.

Just how old is this building?

Thanks to a new study, the community will soon learn more about the origins of Salubria, an 18th century Georgian-style house located off of Route 3.

Dr. Dan Miles, a British archaeologist, took wood samples to gauge Salubria's real age.

A study of wood from Salubria shows that the home of Gov. Alexander Spotswood's widow was built earlier than many historians thought.

This recessed staircase indicates that Salubria may have ties to Thomas Jefferson, who popularized the design.

Come see the National Capitol Squadron of the Commemorative Air Force at the Regional Airport in Brandy Station, 12499 Beverly Ford Rd., Brandy Station. The National Capitol Squadron and Museum will be open and visitors can enjoy tours, explore aircraft and watch a WWII reenactment. Visit the hangar/museum building equipped for the maintenance and display of a fleet of aircraft known as the Ghost Squadron. A WWII Reconnaissance Fighting Vehicle known as a Ferret, and a YAK 7B WWII fighter will also be on display. War Bird rides will be for sale.
