As our nation commemorates the 250th anniversary of American independence, Historic Germanna invites you to celebrate the people, places, and stories that shaped our region. The Second Annual Salubria Oktoberfest and History Faire brings history to life on the grounds of one of Culpeper County’s most remarkable historic places.
Following the success of last year’s inaugural event, the Faire returns for a full day of living history, regional food and drink, live music, family activities, and tours of Historic Salubria. Admission is free, offering visitors of all ages an opportunity to explore the past while enjoying a festive day with friends and neighbors.

Getting to Salubria
Historic Salubria is located at 19173 Salubria Lane, Stevensburg, Virginia, just off Route 3/Germanna Highway. Look for event signs and follow the directions of parking attendants as you approach the property.

Admission and parking
Admission to the Salubria Oktoberfest and History Faire is free.
Parking is $5 per vehicle when reserved in advance and $10 per vehicle at the gate. Advance reservations are encouraged to save money and help speed your arrival.
Parking will be located on grass and other unpaved areas of the property. Please wear appropriate footwear and follow the directions of event staff and volunteers.
Accessibility
Accessible parking will be available for vehicles displaying a valid accessible parking permit.
Salubria is an eighteenth-century property with steps, uneven ground, and unpaved paths. Accessibility will vary depending on each visitor’s individual mobility needs. Guests with questions or those who would like assistance planning their visit are encouraged to contact Historic Germanna in advance at 540-423-1700 or info@germanna.org.
What to bring
The Faire takes place primarily outdoors across Salubria’s historic grounds. Guests are encouraged to dress for the weather and wear comfortable shoes suitable for grass and uneven ground.
Folding chairs and picnic blankets are welcome for visitors who would like to relax and enjoy the music and outdoor activities. Sunscreen and refillable water bottles are also recommended.
Food and beverages
Food trucks will offer a variety of food and nonalcoholic beverages throughout the day. The beer garden will feature German and locally produced beer and cider.
Guests purchasing alcohol must be 21 or older and present a valid photo ID. Alcohol purchased at the event must remain within designated areas. Outside alcohol is not permitted.
Visiting Historic Salubria
Visitors may explore the 1757 house throughout the day in a walk-through format, with knowledgeable guides stationed inside to share its history and answer questions. Tours do not require a reservation and may be enjoyed at each visitor’s own pace.
Salubria is preserved as a historic building and has not been substantially modernized. Food and beverages are not permitted inside, and visitors are asked not to touch historic surfaces or objects.
Families
The Salubria Oktoberfest and History Faire is designed for visitors of all ages. Children can enjoy period games, hands-on crafts, archaeology activities, demonstrations, and other family experiences. Children must remain under the supervision of an adult.
Dogs
Well-behaved dogs are welcome on Salubria’s grounds. Dogs must remain leashed and under their owner’s control at all times, and owners are responsible for cleaning up after them. Only trained service animals may enter the historic house.
Weather
The Salubria Oktoberfest and History Faire will take place rain or shine. Guests should check the forecast and dress accordingly. In the event of severe weather or unsafe conditions, updates will be posted on this webpage and Historic Germanna’s Facebook and Instagram pages.
