Calling all bird lovers and nature enthusiasts! On Saturday, February 18, 2023, from 9:00-11:00 a.m., Germanna will partner with the Old Rag Master Naturalists and Central Rappahannock Master Naturalists to participate in the Great Backyard Bird Count of 2023!
The Great Backyard Bird Count (GBBC) began in 1998 as a partnership between the Cornell Lab of Ornithology and National Audubon Society.
Now, every February, for four days, bird lovers worldwide participate in the Great Backyard Bird Count, the first online citizen-science project collecting data on wild birds, with results displayed in near real-time.
On Saturday, February 18, Germanna will be walking the Red Trail guided by two groups of master naturalists to gather data and identify the birds in our area.
Walks will start at 9:00 at the Visitor Center. To participate in gathering data, please download the Merlin mobile app. To register for this event, click here and for more information about the GBBC, go to www.birdcount.org
