Join us on Sunday, October 6, 2013 at 2:00 pm as we celebrate German-American Day at the German-American Friendship Garden, located on the National Mall between 15th & 17th Streets NW (across from the White House).
The Friendship Garden was founded in 1983 by German Chancellor Helmut Kohl and US President Ronald Reagan. The Friendship Garden commemorates 300 years of German migration to America and a symbol of friendship between Germany and the United States.
To coincide with the 30th anniversary of the Friendship Garden, German Ambassador Peter Ammon led the way to restore the Friendship Garden, which was completed earlier this year.
This is why it is so important that you attend! There will be a number of German-American organization including the Association of German-American Societies among others.
There will be a number of activities planned for kids including painting flower pots and flying kites, so bring a kite to fly and have fun!
