Join us on Saturday, May 21st from 10:30 am to 3:00 pm as the Germanna Foundation hosts a Public Access Day event at historic Salubria Manor, located in Stevensburg, Virginia. Salubria was built circa 1757 by the Reverend John Thompson for his wife, Butler Brayne Spotswood Thompson (widow of Lt. Governor Alexander Spotswood) and is the oldest brick structure in Culpeper County. The Germanna Foundation has been stewards of the property since 2000. The visitor experience will include:
- hands on activities for kids,
- the chance to walk the grounds of historic Salubria,
- learn more about the landscape with our staff archaeologist, Dr. Eric Larsen,
- VCU professor Dr. Bernard Means will have a table of 3D objects for visitors to handle,
- and a tour inside historic Salubria.
You do not need a ticket to tour the grounds, but you will need to purchase a ticket for tours inside Salubria. Touring the grounds is free, but 45-minute tours inside Salubria are $10 per person and will take place at:
- 11:00 am
- 12:00 pm
- 1:00 pm
- 2:00 pm
These timed tours are limited to 15 people per tour. Tickets must be purchased in advance to reserve your spot. No tickets will be sold on site and we will not have a waiting list. Salubria is located at 19173 Salubria Lane (off Route 3; if you are traveling west towards Culpeper, it will be on your left). Visitors can stop anytime between the scheduled hours.
